Take a deep breath and relax. We’re not about to go through the deep complexities of AI and Machine Learning, or talk about code. No, what we’re talking about today and in our Applied AI series are its practical uses for us right now, what those uses will become in the future, and most importantly what role will we, the human beings of this planet, play?
If you’re like me and still find this topic one of those ones where you just don’t know where to start, and you have no real idea if you will understand anything, let me help you out first with two quick questions.
Question 1 – Where do you live?
A perfect starting point is your hometown, because according to Johan Høgåsen-Hallesby, it is humanity’s greatest accomplishment and he explains why to Silvija beautifully in the conversation. So now his mission is to integrate AI into our already incredible cities to make them even better places to live and sustainable in the years to come. If you want to know how Applied AI will transform our urban lives then listening to city-fascinated Johan is essential.
Question 2 - Are you a fan of any of these TV shows – Suits, Aber Bergen or Law and Order?
Because if you are, well, the typical court room drama could be about to drastically change as machine learning is becoming more and more prevalent in the legal profession. Whether we’ll be seeing a show called ROBOTLAW, ADVOBOT or RETTS-AI in the not too distant future is up to you to decide, but only after you’ve listened to Trine Melsether, the chief digital officer at Thommessen, and Silvija Seres discuss the integration of AI in law.
While both the above conversations in are in Norwegian (lucky us!), we do have a conversation for our international audience in this series. Meet Pierluigi Salvo Rossi, professor at NTNU and the man who wants to feel like a student all his life! This is the chat for those wanting to understand what AI actually is, what machine learning essentially does (described in normal words), and how we can use it for everything from making sure you look amazing in a microsoft teams meeting to the maritime domain. And obviously our norwegian speakers can listen to Pierluigi as well! So on behalf of the whole LØRN team - enjoy your listening!
